Fig Prosciutto Arugula Goat Cheese Pizza

Fig Goat Cheese Prosciutto Arugula Pizza

This is my all time favorite pizza recipe. I would choose this pizza over going out for pizza, its that good. It’s perfect if you love savory and sweet. The creamy goat cheese with the peppery arugula on top make it a flavor packed pizza.

I discovered this fig prosciutto pizza back when Clay and I were in college at ISU at a restaurant called +39 that was managed by a cute Italian couple. I’ve been trying to get get the recipe exactly right for years and Clay and I recently perfected it with one secret ingredient. Now it’s one of our favorite recipes for a date night at home or a fun dinner to make with friends. Since fig season is here, Clay and I will be making this pizza on a weekly rotation.

TIP: If you’re wondering what to add to your wedding registry or what useful but fun gift to give a couple, this is it. We were gifted this pizza stone and pizza chopper at our wedding shower. We had no idea how much we would love using these! It really is the best pizza stone, plus it has handles. If you’re wanting an extra cool gift, look into the Ooni outdoor pizza ovens (here’s the 16″ pizza oven and the 12″ pizza oven). Our friend’s have one and it makes the best wood fire grilled pizzas! It’s on our “gifts we would like to receive” list. *Hint, hint*

Here’s the recipe for the fig prosciutto arugula goat cheese pizza:

Ingredients:

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 450°F.

Sprinkle flour on the baking sheet or pizza stone to help prevent the dough from sticking. On a floured surface, roll out the dough (a marble rolling pin works best) into a thin  circle on a pizza stone (this is the exact one we own and love).

Drizzle the surface of the dough with the olive oil and garlic creme sauce. Use the back of a spoon to evenly coat the dough.

Side note: We’ve been trying to replicate this pizza for years and we never found garlic creme sauce until recently. We went to Whole Foods and turns out it’s the secret ingredient that makes all the difference. I think Trader Joe’s has it, too, but they were out of it when we were there. This secret sauce is worth the hunt.

Sprinkle evenly with the basil, mozzarella, and goat cheese. We use a fork to crumble the goat cheese over the pizza.

Add fig preserves. Spoon dollops of the jam on the pizza. Add more or less depending on how sweet you like your pizza.

Arrange the fig slices and prosciutto pieces evenly across the pizza.

Bake for 20-25 minutes until the dough is golden brown, the cheese is melted and bubbly and the prosciutto is crispy.

After removing pizza from the oven and allow it to cool.

Cut pizza into slices, we love this pizza cuter. Sprinkle with parmesan or red pepper flakes, serve, and enjoy!

Then we add arugula on top of the pizza. It adds a whole other layer of flavor and freshness that in our opinion is a necessity.

We dip our last bites of pizza crust in Trader Joe’s hot honey. It’s a game changer.

Let me know if you make this pizza and what you think of it!
